Richard Galpin

Richard-Galpin
Les images de Richard Galpin sont des œuvres de patience. A l’ère de phostoshop il retravaille ses photographies avec un scalpel pour créer des images abstraites :

Richard Galpin’s ‘peeled photographs’ are standard photographic prints that have been subjected to a laborious hand-worked process. This process involves cutting into the surface of the photograph and peeling off the top layer of photographic emulsion. This is done carefully and selectively, leaving particular fragments of the photograph. These fragments then appear to hover in the white background space – a surface and pictorial space that is formed by the newly exposed backing paper of the photograph. No other collage, drawing or painting occurs. These works are created from nothing but a photograph and a scalpel.
